Source: The Hawk Eye
The Hawk Eye reported in December 2020 that ABB would be closing over the summer, meaning that more than 300 jobs will disappear from the community. The announcement came nearly two years to the date after Siemens closed in Burlington, costing Burlington 107 jobs. Iowa law requires that companies planning on closing a plant and laying off employees provide a 60 day notice to workers, families and the community prior to the layoffs.
