The Australian Football League (AFL) has become the latest high-profile sports property to announce sweeping job cuts in a bid to mitigate against the financial damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The preeminent Australian rules football competition announced on Monday that it intends to axe around 20 per cent of its national workforce, having temporarily laid off almost 80 per cent of staff and imposed executive pay cuts back in March.
