ON Semiconductor, a global chipmaker and one of Phoenix's largest public companies plans to lay off approximately 740 employees across the company and its subsidiaries during the first half of 2021. The company said these terminations are part of its ongoing efforts to refocus on growth drivers and streamline operations. This is the second round of layoffs for ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ON) in the past year after it planned to terminate 475 employees last April. The company, which employs about 34,000 worldwide, disclosed this information in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday afternoon after the market closed.
